Privacy Policy

Effective July 20, 2026

UnitClear Academy (“Academy,” “we,” “us”) is a voice-driven EMT training simulator operated by UnitClear LLC, a California limited liability company. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the Academy website and mobile apps, how we use and share it, and the choices you have — including how to delete your account and data.

1. Information we collect

We collect only what the simulator needs to work:

  • Account data. The email address and password you provide at sign-up (or your Google account details if you sign in with Google). Passwords are hashed by our authentication provider — we never see or store them in plain text.
  • Profile data. An optional display name you may add for the leaderboard and shareable result cards. If you leave it blank, a non-identifying label (for example, “Medic-4821”) is shown instead.
  • Training data. For each practice call we store the text transcript of the conversation (what you said and what the AI characters said), the scenario state, your decisions, scores, feedback, and timestamps — so you can review your runs and track progress.
  • Voice / microphone audio. When you hold the push-to-talk button, your microphone audio is streamed in real time to our AI voice provider to generate the characters’ spoken replies (see “How AI processing works” below). We store only the resulting text transcript — not raw audio recordings.
  • Preferences. Your selected training region / county protocol set and similar settings.
  • Payment data. If you subscribe, payment is handled by our payment processors (Stripe on the web; Google Play or the Apple App Store in the mobile apps). We receive your subscription status and a transaction identifier — we never receive or store your full card number.
  • Technical & usage data. Standard log data and error diagnostics needed to run and secure the service. For the anonymous, no-sign-in landing-page voice demo we store a one-way hashed (SHA-256) form of your IP address purely to enforce daily usage limits and prevent abuse; we do not store the raw IP.

2. How we use your information

  • Provide, operate, and personalize the training simulator.
  • Generate the AI characters’ voices and grade your performance after each call.
  • Track your progress, streaks, and leaderboard placement.
  • Process subscriptions and manage access.
  • Send optional service emails (for example, a weekly streak-reminder). These relate to your use of the service.
  • Prevent abuse, debug errors, secure the service, and comply with the law.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your training transcripts to advertise to you.

3. How AI processing works

The talking patient, partner, and nurse are powered by Google’s Gemini API. To make them respond, your spoken audio and the conversation text are sent to Google’s Gemini API for real-time processing, and your completed run transcript is sent to Google’s Gemini model to produce your grade and feedback. This processing is subject to Google’s applicable API terms and privacy commitments. We send only what is needed for the simulation and grading — not your account password or payment details.

4. How we share information

We share data only with the service providers (subprocessors) that make Academy work, each bound to protect it and use it only to provide their service to us:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and secure storage of your account and training data.
  • Google (Gemini API) — real-time voice AI and automated grading.
  • Stripe — web subscription payments.
  • RevenueCat, Google Play, and Apple — in-app subscription purchases and billing.
  • Resend — transactional and reminder emails.
  • Sentry — error monitoring.
  • Vercel — application hosting and basic analytics.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights and safety of our users. If UnitClear LLC is involved in a merger or acquisition, data may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.

5. Agency (B2B) accounts

If you access Academy through an EMS agency or school that licenses training seats via UnitClear EMS, your run results and progress may be visible to your organization’s administrators as part of that program. Solo (individual) subscribers are not part of any organization, and their data is not shared with any agency.

6. Data retention

We keep your account and training data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (see below), we delete your account and its associated training data. Hashed IP values from the anonymous landing demo are retained only briefly for abuse prevention. We may retain limited records where required for legal, tax, or security reasons.

7. Your rights and choices

You can access and review your runs and progress at any time while signed in. You may:

  • Delete your account and data yourself at training.unitclearems.com/delete-account, or by emailing us at the address below.
  • Correct your profile information or ask us to update inaccurate data.
  • Cancel your subscription at any time.

California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including to know, delete, and correct personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under California law. To exercise any right, use the deletion tool above or contact us.

8. Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access is restricted with row-level security so you can only reach your own records, and sensitive credentials are stored server-side only. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard safeguards.

9. Children

Academy is an educational tool intended for adult EMS students and professionals. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use of Academy after an update means you accept the revised policy.
